  38. I know people have talked about this before, but i was wondering is
  39. there anyway i can run my baycom modem with windows3.1 ?????
  40.  
  41. I have tried so many different combinations of software, that it is
  42. driving me mad!!! I have looked into BPQ, with the BPQax25 driver,
  43. TPK, with the tpkax25 driver, and the usual tfpcx and tfpcr but
  44. had no luck.
  45.  
  46. I am sure some one out there must of got it to work, or if not, some 
  47. programmer that has got lots of time free and wants to write a driver.

  65. I have an MFJ-1270B TNC, and I'm interested in upgrading the firmware. MFJ
  66. sells an upgrade for about $24.95, but I'm wondering if anyone out there
  67. knows of some other firmware that would be compatible with this TAPR clone?

  81. KISS will not work properly with the Tiny 2 unit if you are using
  82. an older PROM.  The latest release version, around April 1993 is
  83. just fine.  There is no other way out if you have the older code.
  84. Call PacComm and order the latest PROM.  Be sure to specify whether
  85. you have a standard Tiny 2 or a Mark II.  Dave KN2M.

  94. Hope this is the correct newsgroup for a packet question.  I've got
  95. an old MFJ 1278 TNC.  This has one of their early firmware releases
  96. and suspect I'll have to stick with that.  I installed a firmware
  97. upgrade and was unable to get it to talk to my terminal -- never
  98. would lock at correct baud rate.  So I'm back to original firmware.
  99.  
  100. So I've had this TNC sitting around for about 3 years.  I finally
  101. hooked it up to an HT this weekend and I'm on the air with packet!
  102. I'm using this with a Toshiba T1000SE which is a 640 K machine and
  103. small CPU, probably an 8086.  I'm using procomm to talk to TNC.
  104. First question is about software?  What is a good program to let me
  105. control the MFJ 1278 and do something like split screen when talking
  106. to someone?
  107.  
  108. I do have a 486 PC in the shack, so is there more sophisticated software
  109. that I can run to do things like control multiple streams?  I was
  110. connected to a BBS last night and saw a couple connect requests from
  111. other users but could not figure out how to talk to them.  This morning
  112. someone on local UHF box told me that it was hard to switch streams
  113. without software package.  He uses "pkgold" I believe, but told me
  114. that only runs with PK232.  So software suggestions would be
  115. appreciated.

  133. area running at 9600 or 19,200.  they would like to know which radios will
  134. work at these speeds with out (many) modifications.  thoughts on tnc
  135. selection would be welcome. operation can be in 220 or 440 or 145Mhz.

  163. Are you perchance refering to Digipeater use.  This is a system whereby you can
  164. use another packet system as a repeater.  It is quite handy to extend the range
  165. to which you can communicate.  My system (baycom) works as an excellent digi-
  166. peater.  Basically I place a call to my final QSO by using any reasonable number
  167. of friends packet units.  They recieve my call and pass it on to another 
  168. repeater who passes it on.....   well you know, till it gets to the final 
  169. repeater.

  192. Join some of the brightest and most enthusiastic of today's packet pioneers
  193. at TAPR's annual meeting on March 4th, 5th, and 6th, 1994, in Tucson,
  194. Arizona.  TAPR (Tucson Amateur Packet Radio), a non-profit research and
  195. development corporation, was instrumental in the development of the packet
  196. TNC and continues work on digital communications advancements and education.
  197.  
  198. The meeting informally begins Friday afternoon with the opening of the
  199. hospitality suite and continues later that evening with dinner.  Dinner is
  200. always low-key and provides a great opportunity for those who arrive Friday
  201. to discuss and chat about projects before the rest of the weekend begins.
  202. Friday evening, after dinner, the first meeting of the Regional Networkers
  203. Special Interest Group will be held.
  204.  
  205. The annual meeting formally begins Saturday with presentations and papers on
  206. several exciting new hardware and software projects as well as discussion on
  207. other projects of interest throughout the day.  A mini-symposium concerning
  208. future directions in amateur packet radio will be held during the afternoon
  209. session.  Issues concerning packet networking and BBS operation are also
  210. anticipated.  Saturday evening, after the TAPR dinner, will feature an open
  211. forum during which attendees will be given an opportunity to influence the
  212. future direction and research with which TAPR is involved.  After the TAPR
  213. forum, the first meeting of the TAPR BBS Special Interest Group will be
  214. held.

  216. On Sunday, a special NOS TCP/IP workshop will be led by Johan Reinalda,
  217. WG7J/PA3DIS, principal author and developer of JNOS.  Johan will also be
  218. available for more advanced discussions about JNOS and related activities.

  220. These are exciting times for packet and TAPR.  This year's meeting should be
  221. a super-charging event for everyone who can attend!
